Ländliches Wirtschaften als Multispezies-Ökonomie. Ein Plädoyer für erweiterte Perspektiven

In face of the current ecological crisis and the necessity to produce more food for a growing urban population, the fields of rural economies, rural studies, and agro-foodstudies have gained topicality. At the same time, new fields of research like multispecies studies have gained importance in the humanities and social scienes. By developing the concept of multispecies-economies as a perspective to analyze rural economies, this article aims to bring together multispecies and rural studies. The concept of multispecies economies allows enlarged perspectives into rural economies
that help to understand the complexities of production, including their possibilities and limitations. The perspectives are illustrated with the example of fish farming in Franconia, a region in the German federal state of Bavaria.
